Mission and Vision

PURPOSE

The primary purpose of Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Tokat Studies Application and Research Center is to examine Tokat’s historical, cultural, social, economic, and natural characteristics through a holistic approach; support the production of scientific knowledge in these fields; and contribute to academia at both local and international levels by fostering interdisciplinary research environments. The Center aims to research, document, preserve, and promote all historical, cultural, and natural assets associated with Tokat. To this end, it ensures the sustainability of these studies through publications, archives, projects, and events.

MISSION

  • To investigate Tokat’s historical, cultural, socio-economic, and natural characteristics from past to present using scientific methods and to support these studies with documentary evidence,
  • To bring together different disciplines within the University—including History, Art History, Geography, Literature, Archaeology, Tourism, Education, and Architecture—on collaborative research platforms,
  • To promote and disseminate research on Tokat through academic meetings, workshops, symposiums, exhibitions, and publications,
  • To establish a specialized digital and physical archive and library by compiling books, articles, documents, maps, and audiovisual resources related to Tokat,
  • To contribute to the preservation and promotion of Tokat’s cultural heritage and its sustainable development by fostering cooperation with local authorities, public institutions, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector,
  • To bring Tokat studies to global academic platforms by establishing project partnerships and scholarly networks at national and international levels.

VISION

To become a leading academic reference center where Tokat’s historical, cultural, and natural heritage is promoted internationally, studied through an interdisciplinary approach, and preserved for future generations. TOGÜ-TOKAM aims to be a pioneering institution in regional studies and to serve as a model research center in the preservation of cultural heritage and the promotion of scholarly research.
