Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Tokat Studies Application and Research Center was established to research, document, preserve, and pass on Tokat’s historical, cultural, social, economic, and natural values to future generations through scientific methods. The Center aims to bring together studies conducted on Tokat and its districts, identify gaps in existing research, and provide a foundation for new, original, and interdisciplinary studies.
The Center seeks to conduct and support scientific research in various fields, including Tokat’s history, geography, culture, art, literature, folklore, architecture, sociology, economy, and urbanization processes. Accordingly, its principal activities include conducting bibliographical and inventory studies; publishing books, journals, and other scholarly works; establishing a library, archive, and database; and encouraging postgraduate theses and academic research.
Identifying, documenting, preserving, and promoting Tokat’s tangible and intangible cultural heritage are also among the Center’s priorities. Through symposiums, congresses, panels, conferences, workshops, exhibitions, and field studies, the Center aims to expand the body of scholarly knowledge concerning Tokat and share it with different segments of society.
The Center attaches great importance to developing cooperation with universities, research centers, local authorities, public institutions, and non-governmental organizations, particularly those located in Tokat and the surrounding provinces. Seeking to strengthen interaction between the University and the city, the Center aims to ensure that scholarly studies contribute to Tokat’s cultural, social, and economic development.
The Tokat Studies Application and Research Center carries out its activities with the vision of becoming a pioneering research and information center that sheds light on the city’s past through scientific evidence, examines its contemporary development, and guides studies concerning its future.
