Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Danishmend Studies Application and Research Center, specifically in Tokat and its surroundings; In general, it was established to contribute to illuminating the early periods of Turkish sovereignty in the Turkish geography we live in. Through the center, efforts are made to reveal the studies on the first stages of Turkish settlement in Turkey, to identify deficiencies and to pave the way for new research. The center aims to fill an important gap in bringing to light the Turkish presence in Anatolia by conducting bibliography studies on the principality, publishing books, creating a magazine, developing a library and archive, and directing postgraduate theses. Through various activities, it seeks to cooperate with universities and public institutions in Tokat, Sivas, Amasya, Çorum, Kayseri and Malatya provinces for the history of the region. It also aims to contribute to the coordinated work of the University and local governments.

The Center has the distinction of being the only example established within a University within a principality. However, Selçuk University Seljuk Studies Center in Konya, Ankara University Ottoman History Research Center in Ankara, Bilecik University Ottoman History Research Centers in Bilecik fulfill similar functions. In this regard, the center communicates with the Seljuk Research Center in Konya from time to time.
